Dem Sen Booker: New Travel Ban a ‘Dressed Up Pig’ of ‘Bigotry and Hatred’

Monday on MSNBC’s “All In,” while discussing President Donald Trump’s new executive order limiting travel to the United States from six Muslim-majority countries, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) called it “a more finely dressed up pig” that was “appealing to bigotry and hatred.”

Booker said, “This is again something that came out of that campaign promise that had very little to do protecting residents than appealing to bigotry and hatred. It was a Muslim ban—that was the original intention. And that is a more finely dressed up pig that is trying to be pushed through. Sorry for the non-kosher example—metaphor, but it’s a more dressed up pig trying to pass through the objections of the court. But they’re clearly, from their election and campaign material they’re sending out, all the way to what their senior advisers like Stephen Miller are saying. This is still the same policy intent. It’s not going to make Americans safer. In fact, it could potentially make us less safe.”
