GOP Rep Meadows: We Will Put Obamacare Repeal and Replace on President’s Desk ‘In the Next Seven Weeks’

On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” House Freedom Caucus Chairman Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC) stated that Congress will put Obamacare repeal and replace on the president’s desk in the next seven weeks.

Meadows stated, “In the next seven weeks, we will put something on the president’s desk to make sure that we repeal and replace Obamacare.”

Earlier Meadows said, “[W]e need to make sure we prioritize two things. One is, we drive down premiums and the second is that we cover pre-existing conditions. I am concerned of some of what we’re hearing reported at this point, but I think it’s too early to put a fork and say it’s done.”

Meadows also said that stripping out state waivers would be “problematic if we don’t address it in another way. … But, I can tell you that Senator [Ted] Cruz (R-TX) has what he calls a consumer choice option that allows either Obamacare or non-compliant plans to be offered. If that were in there, then we could work at the waivers in a different light.”

He also said if de-funding Planned Parenthood is stripped out, the bill would lose too many votes in the House to pass.
