Schumer to Trump: Stop ‘Politicizing and Dividing America’ at Times of National Tragedy

Wednesday on the Senate floor in response to President Donald Trump’s tweet, Minority Leader Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY), said the president should stop “politicizing and dividing America” after Tuesday’s New York City terror attack that killed eight and wounded eleven.

Trump was criticizing the Diversity Visa Lottery program after reports that alleged attacker Sayfullo Saipov used it to enter the United States.

Schumer said, “I have always believed that immigration is good for America I believe it today. President Trump instead of politicizing and dividing America which he always seems to do at times of national tragedy should be bringing us together and focusing on the real solution, anti-terrorism funding which he proposed to cut in his most recent budget.”
