Protesters Kneel Outside AT&T Stadium During National Anthem

Per Star-Telegram, a group of around 300 protesters took a knee Sunday outside AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, to protest racial injustice in the United States.

A group called the Coalition for Justice, led by pastor Dr. Frederick Douglass Haynes III from Dallas’ Friendship-West Baptist Church, met at the Tom Landry statue next to the stadium to take a knee during the National Anthem before the Cowboys hosted the Philadelphia Eagles for Sunday Night Football.

Following the National Anthem, the group recited the Pledge of Allegiance, adding multiple and louder “alls” for emphasis.

Haynes called on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to join the group.

“We invite Jerry Jones to join this movement to fight for police reform, criminal justice reform, and bail reform. If you’re truly a patriot, Mr. Jones, use your privilege to benefit your players and their community. Because once they take off their helmet and get in their cars they’re subject to the same things,” Haynes said, via Star-Telegram.
