Sen. John Thune (R-SD) said Friday that it was “unfortunate” that the Republican National Committee still supports Alabama GOP U.S. Senate nominee Roy Moore despite facing multiple sexual assault allegations.
According to Thune, if Moore does get elected next week, he will “immediately be under an ethics cloud.”
“I think the one thing I’ve said all along is if he comes to Washington, he will immediately be under an ethics cloud, probably an ethics investigation,” Thune said on “CBS This Morning.”
Thune also called the allegations a “distraction,” adding the “best interest for the country” and party would be if Moore would “step aside” and allow another Republican to run for the seat.
