Hannity: Brooks Would Have Won By 20 Points, McConnell Opposed Brooks ‘From the Get-Go’

During the Fox News Channel’s coverage of the Alabama Senate election on Tuesday, host Sean Hannity argued that Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL) would have won by 20 points if he had been the GOP Senate nominee and stated Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) opposed Brooks from the start, and noted President Trump’s endorsement of Senator Luther Strange (R-AL).

Hannity said, “Let me go to how we got to this point, Bret, and by that, I mean, I’ve known Mo Brooks for nearly 30 years. … I will tell you tonight that Mo Brooks would have won by probably 20 points in this race. We also have the factor of Richard Shelby, a sitting senator, well-liked in the great state of Alabama, who said he could not vote for Moore, and he went with a write-in candidate. But how did we get to this point? The president supported Luther Strange, and I think a lot of people aren’t really talking about the involvement of Mitch McConnell from the get-go here, opposing Mo Brooks, who would have won easily, supporting Luther Strange and the amount of money they poured in to also going hard after Roy Moore, prior to these allegations.”

During the GOP primary campaign in Alabama, Brooks was the target of a negative ad campaign by the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
