In an appearance this week on Complex’s “Out of Bounds,” free agent tight end Martellus Bennett revealed that NFL players just want to play video games and smoke weed during their offseason.
According to Bennett, the outspoken brother of the also outspoken defensive end Michael Bennett, most NFL players do not prepare for life after football.
“Once you get to the league, guys aren’t reading books, they’re not studying, they’re not keeping up with tech, they’re not doing these things,” Bennett stated. “So, when you get out of football there’s this eight-year gap of education that you’re even further behind.
“Offseason, everybody just wants to play video games, smoke weed and eat cereal,” he added.
Bennett continued, joking that once in the league, NFL players see a book and think of it as “the devil.”
