GOP Sen Paul Calls for ‘More Scrutiny’ on Immigration

Speaking Sunday on New York AM 970 radio’s “The Cats Roundtable,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) called for “more scrutiny” in regards to immigration.

Paul said employment-based immigration is a “good thing, but pointed out some immigrants need to be left on the “other side.”

“I think we have to be careful about people who come here to attack us, so I’m kind of with the president on some of these countries,” Paul told host John Catsimatidis. “We do need more scrutiny. If you’ve got one name, and you want to immigrate from Pakistan or Afghanistan, I’d put you at the bottom of some list, and you’re probably not coming here if you don’t have the appropriate paperwork. But, if we know who you are, and you’re coming with peaceful intentions, and you can prove who you are, and you’re willing to work, I think … we need more of that.”
