Newark, N.J. – A New Jersey Little League coach has admitted to attacking an umpire who refused to call a game due to darkness in 2011.

Prosecutors say that 46-year-old Henry Milstrey became irate with umpire Robert Waters for allowing the game to continue as night approached.  Milstrey apparently enlisted the help of approximately 16 other men who assaulted the 51-year-old umpire.

Waters, who is also the president of the Newark Little League, suffered a fractured skull, hearing loss, and lost a tooth in the attack.

Milstrey would have faced up to 10 years in prison if he had been convicted by a jury. His sentencing is now set for August.
