GRANT COUNTY, Indiana – In a scene right out of Shakespeare, a Grant County man bit off part of his neighbor’s nose on Sunday, after police say they got into a fight over a bottle of tequila.  According to Marion police, the altercation took place when Miguel Lopez and Miguel Florentino-Ramirez began biting each other in front of one of their homes on West 9th street.

Police say Lopez struck first with a bite to Florentino-Ramirez’s cheek. But one does not bite Miguel Florentino-Ramirez without repercussions and he quickly bit back, slicing off the tip of Lopez’s nose.

Although police located the piece of nose under a tree, doctors were not able to reattach it at the hospital.

Both men were charged with battery. Officials say Lopez was released from jail early so he could see a plastic surgeon.
