In a move bound to put New Jersey Governor Chris Christie at odds with the Republican Party’s conservative base, Christie is heralding New Jersey’s version of the Dream Act. calling it a “sound economic choice” and “an object lesson in bipartisan cooperation.

Unfortunately, given NJ’s status as a Democrat-dominated Blue State, it’s easy to see why more conservative Republicans may not see compromises coming out of New Jersey as a model they’re interested in seeing played out across America thanks to Washington, D.C. post 2016.

Flanked by Hispanic leaders, students, and immigration reform advocates, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie celebrated the signing of his state’s so-called DREAM Act on Tuesday, hailing the new law a sound economic choice and an object lesson in bipartisan cooperation.
