LAKELAND, Florida – Deputies say they have discovered a large marijuana operation inside a home in Polk County. Police attempted to apprehend a man at the residence but he refused to come out, telling police he wanted to “smoke a joint first.”

Police said they could smell the odor of marijuana wafting through the door.

David Schultz, 32, just may have smoked that last joint, but he eventually surrendered, according to the Sheriff’s office. Deputies found a nursery filled with baby pot plants and two additional rooms housing mature plants. 190 in all.

Shultz was jailed on charges of maintaining a dwelling for drug manufacturing, cultivation of cannabis, possession of cannabis with the intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
