Breitbart News dismissed it as all but laughable as speculated swirled around a possible Senate bid by former MT Gov. Brian Schweitzer in the event embattled John Walsh dropped out.
That analysis proved prescient. Now that Walsh has made his withdrawal official, Schweitzer promptly made it clear he isn’t interested in taking his place.
I respectfully decline to seek the Senate nomination. Many thanks to John Walsh & I’ll support whoever the next nominee turns out to be.

Wityh the Montana Democrat Party in disarray and lacking a candidate at this date, the seat is all but assured to go Republican in the Fall.
