Congressman Steve King asked Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to explain how he could keep meat inspectors fully employed while functioning inside the new budget cut in spending growth. Vilsack said that the only option was more funds. King rejected that answer and asked him again to come up with a plan. Vilsack said that the budget cuts were “your fault” to GOP Congressman King. King reminded the Secretary that the sequester was President Obama’s idea and again cornered Vilsack to explain what he needed to function within his budget.
