Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg downplayed his recent political activity tied to firearms, dismissing accusations of promoting “gun control.”

Bloomberg anti-gun groups efforts include a collation of city mayors called “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” and an advocacy group that runs anti-gun political ads named “Every town for Gun Safety.” Bloomberg also announced in April that he will spend another $50 million in a push for stricter gun control laws, which notably is two-and-a-half times the amount spent by the National Rifle Association annually on political activities.
