Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ) strongly criticized President Barack Obama for his lack of action to free Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, a Marine who was imprisoned in Mexico after he took a wrong turn and ended up on the wrong side of the border.

Salmon said, “I was holding my breath for the Obama administration to stand up and do something,” but concluded that they would not before he went and visited this weekend. He ripped the president by stating “the president has boldly said that he has a pen and a phone. He needs to pick up the gosh darn phone and do something positive with it to get this young man out.”

Salmon reported that Sgt. Tahmooressi “was in good condition,” but ended the interview by pleading “Mr. President, get off your duff and do the right thing. You boldly said you have a pen and a phone. Put that phone for good use once in while.”
