Border Patrol agent Gabe Pacheco and National ICE Council President Chris Crane said that the southern border was “wide open” and a “perfect storm” in an interview on Monday’s “Sean Hannity Show.”

Pacheco stated re-deploying agents to process illegal immigrants has created “certain areas along the border you have it where it’s just wide open,” which he said endangers the safety of agents, and declared that the situation at the border is a “perfect storm for these people to be allowed to stay here.” Crane reported that ICE’s Fugitive Operations Teams who “are supposed to be out on the streets looking for bad guys” “are being shut down,” and agents from the Criminal Alien Program “that’s supposed to in the jails, looking for criminals” are being “sucked into this mess.”

Crane detailed the retaliation he faced for exposing the crisis at the border and the fact that “the administration won’t enforce our nation’s immigration laws.”  He said that he had experienced “whistleblower retaliation,” which he said was “widespread.”  Crane also declared “under this administration, whistleblowers are not treated real well,” and said that agents who speak out have their jobs threatened.

Pacheco also stated that health screenings consisted of Border Patrol agents “just reading the script” given to them, and recording responses given by illegal immigrants.  He added that this was considered “good enough for the medical screening.”  Crane said that some agents were “just not going home to their families” to avoid exposing them to diseases.
