On his Tuesday broadcast, Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” anchor Jon Stewart attacked newly-reelected House Minority Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her insistence that Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), a double amputee Iraq War veteran whose pregnancy has made her unable to travel, could not vote by proxy in House Democratic leadership elections.
Stewart pointed to Pelosi’s claim she is a champion of women’s rights, but according to Stewart, this contradicted those claims.
“You are suppressing the vote of a minority pregnant woman who is a wounded war veteran,” Stewart said. “She is everything you supposedly stand for stuffed into one individual. She is a Democratic demographic ‘tur-Duckworth.’”
