On Friday on PBS’s “NewsHour,” Cori Crider, the lawyer for Abu Wa’el Dhiab, one of six former Guantanamo detainees sent to Uruguay this week, discussed the “overwhelming warmth and compassion” of the people of Uruguay as she told the story of “hospital patients smiling and waving” at her client and being “hugged by grandmothers in supermarkets simply because I’m a laywer who represents a Guantanamo prisoner.”
