On Thursday’s broadcast of “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel, Pentagon spokesman Read Adm. John Kirby told host Sean Hannity that the Pentagon stood by the decision to swap U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban that were Guantanamo Bay detainees, even in the wake of reports that one of those detainees had returned to the battlefield.

“We still stand by this decision as being the right decision,” Kirby said. “It’s a powerful message to our troops and their families that we’re not going to leave you behind. And it doesn’t matter how you came to be missing. We’ll deal with that later, and right now, General [Mark] Milley is dealing with that. We’re going to make sure we can get you home.”
