US News and World Report Chairman and Editor-in-Chief and publisher of the New York Daily News, Mort Zuckerman argued that drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) was “critical to the national security of the United States” on Friday’s “McLaughlin Group.”

“I really a little bit astounded by this decision [President Obama’s proposal to close off parts of ANWR permanently] because this is something that is really critical to the national security of the United States, to its economy. Yes, right now oil, there’s a lot of surplus of oil, but for large parts of our past and for large parts of our future, we are going to need this kind of energy, and so I absolutely do not understand, and cannot understand his [Obama’s] decision on this thing” he stated.
