MSNBC’s “Hardball” host Chris Matthews argued that the “white people” pushing voter ID laws “don’t have any sense of fairness” on Thursday.

In an interview with Representative James Clyburn (D-SC) what thinks of “these Republicans, who even though some of them are going to show up with you as your colleagues this weekend down in Selma, they’re out there pushing all these voter suppression efforts, these voter ID card requirements.”

Later, he remarked that “voter suppression, why do Republicans get away [with] it? It’s a black/white issue largely, but the white people who push this thing, they don’t have any sense of fairness. People should all be allowed to to vote.”
