Monday at the White House press briefing, in light of Saturday’s evacuation of all remaining special forces troops amid the chaos erupting in Yemen, when asked if President Barack Obama’s claims that Yemen is a model for success in U.S. counterterrorism policy, press secretary Josh Earnest stood behind Obama’s strategy.

Earnest said, “The case that we have made is Yemen did serve as a template for the kind of strategy that we would employ, and did employ, to mitigate the threat from extremists around the world.”
