During Tuesday’s “His & Hers” on ESPN2, co-hosts Michael Smith and Jemele Hill reacted to the riots in Baltimore, which have caused the Baltimore Orioles to postpone their games.

Hill mentioned the New York City’s 1969 Stonewall Riots as an example of riots that caused changed, but Smith took it a step further and compared the 1773 Boston Tea Party, which was a catalyst for the American Revolution, to the Baltimore riots.

“A lot of times riots have been a catalyst to a greater movement,” Hill said. “As I’ve mentioned before, the Gay Pride Festival that’s celebrated offensive year the root cause was a riot that occurred in the late 60’s in New York. That’s where it stems from.”

“Technically the Boston Tea Party was a riot,” Smith added.
