In an interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Sunday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Louis Murphy spoke about newly drafted and first-overall pick Jameis Winston, a quarterback out of Florida State.

Murphy, a former college teammate of Tim Tebow at Florida, dodged the question about if he was concerned with Winston’s off-the-field issues, and then compared him to Tebow because both quarterbacks want to win.

“No, not really,” Murphy replied. “I just saw how much of a competitor he is. I want to play with a competitor. He competes. He really dislikes losing. He loves to win and that’s a guy I want to play with. He’s young, kind of similar to Tim Tebow in a way, he just wants to win. He’ll do anything it takes to win. But he’s young, everybody makes mistakes. Everybody is entitled to a second chance. I’m just really excited to be with a guy that is really passionate about playing this game.”

Since being drafted, Winston has faced criticisms from all corners, including being described as an “embarrassment” by former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden.
