Tuesday at a Republican Senate press conference, Sen. John McCain said he would be “astonished” and “angered” if President Barack Obama vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2016 over “funding issues.”
McCain said, “The world is on fire. In the words of Henry Kissinger, there are more crisis in the world than at any time since the end of World War II. And the president of the United States, over a funding issue, which has nothing to do with authorization, is threatening to veto the defense bill, which helps the men and women who are serving in the military protect this nation and protect themselves. I would be astonished and angered, but more importantly, I think the American people want a better viewpoint from a president of the United States whose role as commander-in-chief is to defend this nation.”
The NDAA funds programs eliminated sequestration for Department of Defense.
