With Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning set to announce his retirement today, his brother, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, narrated a touching tribute to honor his Peyton’s football career, beginning with playing in the backyard.

In the piece, written by ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi, Eli reflected on what made his brother have such a phenomenal 18-year career.

“It’s hard to describe what [Peyton] poured into the game all these years,” Eli said.

Eli named Peyton’s many records and awards and mentioned the setbacks he faced with neck surgeries.

“He was a professional, but always found time to be personal. Maybe that’s why people connect with him as more than a player,” Eli added.
