Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took the subway in New York City Thursday, but not before running into the same problem many New York residents run into every day.

CNN footage captured the moment the former New York senator attempted to scan a MetroCard at a Bronx subway station during a campaign visit.

The subway trip was aimed at fellow Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who recently told the New York Daily News he still thought the subway used tokens.

As Clinton got on the subway Thursday, she said, “I think it was my first term when we changed from tokens to MetroCards.”
