Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX), formerly an CIA officer, told host Chris Cuomo there needed to be a stronger message sent to the Russians for the alleged hacking related to this year’s presidential election.

Hurd suggested that come in the form of kicking a top-ranking Russian diplomat out of the country.

“This is something that there has to be a clear response to this behavior so that it doesn’t happen in the future,” Hurd said. “You know, I’ve been calling for months at a minimum we should’ve at least kicked the Russian ambassador out of the United States or the senior intelligence officer to show we are not playing around. It’s not enough to tell someone to cut it out. There has to be a clear consequences to this kind of behavior.”
