Wednesday while being questioned by reporters about President Donald Trump firing of FBI Director James Comey, Senate Intelligence Committee chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) said while he was he was troubled by the timing and reasoning of Comey’s termination, he was “not in favor of a special prosecutor,”

Burr said,”I think the timing and the reasoning incites people to believe that there’s something being covered up.”

Burr added, “I’m not in favor of a special prosecutor because I think the committee can carry out its responsibility, can come to a conclusion.”
