In a Monday appearance on “CBS This Morning,” NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said that high school athletes are only using college as a launching pad to get into the NBA, rather than for bettering themselves academically.

“Kids aren’t going to college now to get an education,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “They’re going to play basketball and move on to the NBA.”

“[I]t’s rare to see some guys stay and try to get their degrees,” he added.
