Monday morning at a town hall event, Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) said he wanted open hearings for the Republican health care plan.

Moran said, “What we ought to do is have hearings, open hearings, people then can come—experts and others and tell us how to fix the Affordable Care Act.”

Last week, Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R.-KY), began the procedure for fast-tracking the bill by passing Rule XIV that moves a bill directly to the floor and bypasses the committee process.

Sunday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the way McConnell was fast-tacking the Republican health care bill without hearings was “one of the most outrageous examples of legislative malpractice in decades.”
