In an interview that aired Wednesday on Meridian, MS ABC affiliate WTOK, Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL) was asked about the candidacy Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Roy Moore amid the sexual misconduct allegations Moore is facing.

Sewell declared Alabama deserves better and a candidate that will “do us proud.”

“I believe that the people of Alabama, the voters of Alabama, deserve to have a senator whose character, integrity and veracity is not in question day one, that they enter the Senate,” she said. “I believe that we deserve better and I hope that the voters of Alabama will put partisan politics aside and choose a candidate that can best represent Alabama, all of Alabama. And a candidate that will do us proud.”

However, when asked about Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and the cloud of controversy he is under, she had no comment.
