On Thursday’s broadcast of MS NOW’s “The Weeknight,” House Minority Whip Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) responded to a question on whether rules on masks for federal agents are a red line for Democrats on DHS funding by stating that “you have to do all these things” that are in the Democrats’ list of demands. She also stated that there could be ID numbers instead of name tags.

Co-host Symone Sanders Townsend asked, “Democrats seem dug in on the masks, I would say rightfully so, I don’t think — I think power in this country should have a face and a name. So, are you all willing to go to the mat on the masks? Is this a true sticking point, to where there’s no scenario where you would fund the government — fund DHS specifically, because it’s only a partial shutdown — fund DHS if they do not remove the masks?”

Clark answered, “We have said you have to do all these things. This is a commonsense security for the American people list of things and reforms we want to see. Masks are included.”

Clark added, “A name tag, it doesn’t — if they’re worried about identifying, it can be a number.”
