Monday on MS NOW’s “All In,” Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) said President Donald Trump has the “dumbest administration this country has ever seen.”
Discussing tariffs being imposed on Canada, Gallego said, “Secretary Bessent is sometimes bright, but he could also be the dumbest man in the room at the same time. And he must at least remember, on D Day, Canada was our ally then, too. And the other thing that really matters about allies is that you need to have relationships with them before you actually need them.”
He added, “You need to build trust with them, need to be working with them, need to actually have a certain level of comfort and trust with each other that when it comes to these very hard times, then they will actually stick with you. What you don’t do is try to make them fight for you at the point of a gun, because that is when you lose them. So right now, this whole idea that we’re going to have the whole world economic order that is suddenly going to just back Donald Trump after all the bullying that he’s done all year, in order for us to win a war that we should not have started in the first place after again continuing to threaten the world order all together, it’s just foolhardy and dumb. And this is what happens. You need friends in good times so that way they’re there in the bad times. You need to be doing things with your friends to actually build trust and build prosperity together. So that way, it is easier for you to work together when things are hard. This is the dumbest administration this country has ever seen, and we’re all going to pay for it.”
