Turns out Alanis Morissette isn’t the only pop singer who traffics in irony.
The Material Girl herself is backpedaling on her comments about President Barack Obama being a “black Muslim,” part of a profanity-laced show of support for the beleaguered leader.
“I was being ironic on stage,” the singer said in a statement via Perez Hilton. “Yes I know Obama is not a Muslim (though I know that plenty of people in this country think he is.)”
“And what if he were?” Madonna, who’s a supporter of the president, added. “The point I was making is that a good man is a good man no matter who he prays to. I don’t care what religion Obama is – nor should anyone else in America.”
Wonder if she feels the same about the Mormon faith?
