The casual media observer can tell most comedians have taken a “hands off” approach to President Barack Obama.
Comics would rather talk about Mitt Romney, the GOP or even former President George W. Bush than tweak the man currently sitting in the Oval Office.
Conservative comedian Evan Sayet has the inside scoop on the subject. Sayet told The Daily Caller that it’s no accident most of his peers avoid telling Obama jokes, be it on stage, on screen or during late night chat fests. Jokes can leave a mark, and Sayet’s fellow comedians told him they don’t want to be responsible for damaging the Obama brand.
“Liberals don’t want to make fun of Obama because they feel that it will weaken him if they honestly point out his foibles and his shortcomings. The narrative is that Obama is sort of a god (in fact, Evan Thomas of Newsweek said exactly that.) Gods don’t have any flaws. Thus, if they point out a single flaw, they are entirely destroying the narrative.”
