Comedians can’t resist a layup, a political joke so easy it’s bound to provoke a laugh.

Remember the fun late-night comics had after President Bill Clinton’s dalliances with Monica Lewinsky came to light?

So Saturday Night Live couldn’t help but mock Donald Sterling, the owner of the LA Clippers caught making racist comments late last month.

Yet the show’s cold open Saturday also critiqued the NAACP for looking past Sterling’s racial track record.

“My reputation has gotten a real black eye, which we all know is the worst kind of eye,” said Sterling, impersonated by Bobby Moynihan.

Later, Sterling brought up the LA chapter of the NAACP, a group which admitted this week it ignored his racially unsettling past because the owner gave heartily to their cause.

“They have tried to give back my donations so I raised them up to $10 million, now they’ve graciously agreed to give me a second lifetime achievement award,” he said.

“It’s the biggest donation we got since Michael Richards gave us that Escalade,” the NAACP head, played by Kenan Thompson, said.
