President Barack Obama is used to having his executive orders carried out, and when the requested advance episodes of Season 6 of Game of Thrones, the producers of the show obeyed.
“When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?” producer David Benioff admitted during the show’s Facebook Live stream of the premiere.
Producer Dan Weiss confirmed that they dutifully acquiesced to Obama’s request.
“Yes. He’s the leader of the free world,” he said.
“I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an ‘ah-ha’ moment,” he added. “That was a very strange moment.”
Obama is a big fan of the show, telling Bill Simmons that his favorite character is “probably…the dwarf, what’s his name.”
