Pixar has released the first teaser trailer for its Dia de los Muertos-inspired animated offering Coco, due out later this year.

Coco centers on 12-year-old Miguel (newcomer Anthony Gonzalez), an aspiring guitarist who looks to his idol, the legendary musician Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt) for inspiration.

But when Miguel steals de la Cruz’s guitar from the musician’s gravesite, he’s instantly transported to the Land of the Dead, where, according to the film’s synopsis, he “sets off a chain of events relating to a century-old mystery, leading to an extraordinary family reunion.”

Coco is directed by Oscar-winner Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3) and co-directed by Adrian Molina (Monsters University) off of a screenplay by Molina. The voice cast also includes Gael Garcia Bernal and Renee Victor.

Coco is due out in theaters November 22.
