Disney and Marvel Studios have released the first trailer for the upcoming superhero tentpole Black Panther.

Chadwick Boseman (Get On Up) stars as T’Challa, who comes home to take over the throne in the fictional nation of Wakanda after his father, King T’Chaka, was killed during the events in Captain America: Civil War. T’Challa, better known as the superhero Black Panther, must team up with American CIA agent Everett Ross to protect his country when a vicious power struggle threatens to tear Wakanda apart.

Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) directs Black Panther off of a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole (American Crime Story).

Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, Angela Bassett and Sterling K. Brown co-star.

Black Panther is in theaters February 16, 2018.
