Actor Ryan Gosling and his Oscar-winning La La Land director Damien Chazelle reteam in the first visuals from Universal’s sensational true telling of the Neil Armstrong-led Apollo 11 spaceflight in First Man.

The two-minute trailer shows Gosling’s Armstrong grappling with the complexities of executing “one of the most dangerous missions in history” and the mission’s personal impact on his anxious wife, played by Claire Foy, and their young sons.

“This isn’t just another trip, Neil,” Foy says in the trailer that debuted Friday during Jimmy Kimmel Live! “You’re not just going to work.”

“Do you think you’re coming back?” one boy asks. “There are risks but, we have every intention of coming back,” Gosling’s Armstrong replies.

The film will reportedly focus on Armstrong’s life from 1961-1969.

First Man also stars Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin, Pablo Schreiber, Kyle Chandler, and Jason Clarke. The film lands in theaters on Oct. 12.
