UK Independence Party (UKIP) representative Roger Helmer MEP has taken to the stage at the party’s special Spring Conference with what can only be described as a ‘tub thumping’ introduction video, followed by a rousingly popular speech.

Helmer, who defected from the Conservative Party in 2012, took to the stage in Torquay to claim that “Britain faces an industrial massacre as a result of energy prices”. UK energy prices are on the rise due to high taxes subsidising ‘green’ policies, and an effective cartel of ‘big six’ energy providers – a result of Labour’s consolidation in the late 90s and early 2000’s.

Helmer’s video begins with a speech of his from the European Parliament where he states, “…the truth is nobody believes in climate change anymore. There has been no global warming for 15 years. Sea levels are not rising significantly. Countries like India, China, and the USA will not sacrifice economic progress for speculative and alarmist theories about climate change”.

The video is interspersed with high quality stock imagery, as well as having a rousing and at time haunting soundtrack.

Speaking to bureaucrats in the European Parliament, the video shows Helmer stating, “As Oliver Cromwell said: ‘Colleagues, you have sat here too long for any good you may have been doing. For God’s sake, go’.”
