After Donald Sterling questioned whether Magic Johnson has helped minorities and implied that Johnson was scheming to take the Clippers from him, Johnson responded by saying that nothing Sterling can do or say will help him keep his team.

“My whole life is devoted to urban America. So, you know I just wish he knew the facts when he’s talking,” Johnson told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Tuesday. “But he’s a man who’s upset and he’s reaching. He’s reaching. He’s trying to find something that he can grab on to help him save his team. And it’s not going to happen.”

Johnson said he is going to pray for Sterling since Johnson is a “God-fearing man.”

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who banned Sterling from the league for life and said he will try to expeditiously get 3/4 of the league’s owners to force a sale, apologized again to Magic Johnson on behalf of the NBA after he read a transcript of Sterling’s interview with Cooper that aired on Monday.

In the Monday interview, Sterling said that Johnson told him not to say anything to the press after an audio recording was released in which Sterling is heard telling V. Stiviano that he did not want “black people” at his games so Johnson could buy his team.
