James Taylor wants to pass the hat around–again– for President Barack Obama.

The veteran troubadour who started campaigning for then-Sen. Obama back in 2008, is using an upcoming concert to raise funds for Obama’s Organizing for America group.

Anyone who donates to OFA by midnight tonight, May 30, will get entered into a concert to meet the singer backstage at a June concert and snare a free flight and hotel to boot.

Here’s the pitch letter from the Fire and Rain crooner himself:

OFA is changing the way people fight for the things they care about. That’s not a small thing. When folks get together in their neighborhoods to knock on doors, make calls, or just chat over coffee about the issues of the day, they’re creating something bigger than themselves. The work you do is about building communities, and it really matters.

Today, I just want to say thanks — and offer you the chance to join me as a VIP guest at a performance next month.Anyone who makes a grassroots donation by midnight will be automatically entered to join me backstage at a concert next month — the flight and hotel for you and a guest is on OFA.

When I’m performing and I look out at the crowd, it’s a privilege to see the way people can come together, share joy, and feel connected. That’s the same reason the work you do is so important. I’ve been able to witness what you do up close, and for me, seeing people of all ages get involved on issues like climate change, health care reform, and raising the minimum wage is inspiring.

You are proof that every voice matters, and together we’re louder and more powerful than we are alone.

Make a donation to OFA, no matter how big or small, and you’ll be automatically entered to come out to the show….
