A woman who allegedly abandoned her two toddlers in Texas, where they were found tied up and chained in a backyard last weekend, has been found in California, according to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office investigators, as reported by mysanantonio.com.

As Breitbart News reported over the weekend, the two toddlers were found outside, along with six abandoned children inside the home. The pregnant mother of the six children, thought to be Porucha Denise Phillips, 34, was arrested:

Neighbors called police on the evening of April 28 after hearing a pair of toddlers crying in a backyard of a San Antonio home for “a long period of time.”

Upon arrival, Bexar County police discovered one toddler chained to the ground and another tied to a door with a dog leash. There were no adults nearby.

The toddlers, one a two-year-old boy and the other a three-year-old girl, were suffering from exposure, and the girl had a fractured arm.

Inside the home, officers discovered six more children ranging in ages from 10 months to 13 years. All had been left in the home unsupervised.

Phillips reportedly faces two felony charges of “injury to a child by omission” and remains in custody after having failed to post a $150,000 bond:

The unnamed mother of the two toddlers left outside is reportedly cooperating with police.

Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman James Keith said: “The biggest question now is what is she doing in California and why are her kids here.”

Keith had called the incident “sickening,” adding: “To call this horrific would be an understatement. If it wasn’t for our deputies and this caller who tipped us off, we know that this could have had an even worse outcome”
