Mysterious flyers threatening “genocide of the white race” have been showing up on cars all over the San Diego area for months now, reportedly containing threats targeted toward white people.

According to San Diego’s local ABC affiliate, 10 News, this strange phenomenon has been largely restricted to neighborhoods in the city’s “Little Italy,” but multiple variations of the flyer all containing the same font and general message have been found on car windshields citywide:

10 News has obtained several variations of the flier. While the language varies slightly, they all use the same font and have similar themes.

Alyssa Ermann said she received one on her windshield in late April. It appeared to be a jobs flier, promising to “make you rich if you join us.” Then it continued, “we are killing off the entire evil white race by making them addicted to cocaine, crack, spiked marijuana, spice, meth, heroin, hash, and other poisons, to kill them.”

The fliers are anonymous, but typically include numbers to local businesses. They also end with “Latino Power – Viva la Raza.”

If the goal of the anonymous person or group behind the flyers was to terrify peopl, —the result so far has the opposite.  Two of the people interviewed, including Ermann, seemed more amused than anything else.

A random passerby was asked by the 10 News reporter for his comment, and he didn’t seem to think it was a serious threat. His guess? A “scare piece” or possibly “paper trolling” designed to get a reporter to do an investigation.

It would not be the first time racism has been used to prove alarm and media attention. Last year, the Ku Klux Klan reportedly embarked on a recruitment drive in liberal San Francisco.
