An Irish member of the European Parliament who is also a former convicted member of the IRA terrorist organization said Israeli lobbyists were “all over this place like a rash” during a discussion supposedly dedicated to health issues and sanitation in Gaza and the West Bank.

Martina Anderson is a representative of Northern Ireland for the Sinn Féin party, known for its anti-Israeli and pro-BDS stances. She used the phrase Wednesday when she highlighted the lobbying efforts of Israeli and Jewish groups in Brussels while lamenting the efforts of Palestinian Authority groups.

“We know that the Palestinians do not have the same capacity or personnel as the Israelis do. The Israelis are all over this place like a rash – they are lobbying to no end,” Miss Anderson said.

A clip of Miss Anderson’s comments appears below:

“Over a billion Muslims, 22 Arab states and one great Arab nation, which the Palestinians see themselves as part of, will surely disagree with the MEP for doubting their power and political capabilities,” Amir Ohana, a member of Knesset with the Likud party told Tazpit Press Service (TPS) in response to the claim.

“As for the ‘rash’ part, I can only express my impression with the creative associations that these new anti-Semites have,” added Ohana.

Miss Anderson served part of a life sentence after being convicted of taking part in the Brighton Grand Hotel bombing in 1984. Five people died and 34 were injured in the attack aimed at Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her cabinet. Miss Anderson was also found guilty of  planning mass bombing attacks on 12 other English resort towns.

She became an MEP for Northern Ireland in 2012 and was re-elected in 2014, topping the poll with 159,813 first-preference votes after strong personal support from Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams.
