Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) has accused President Barack Obama and his administration of embellishment in making the case for military action against Syria.

Appearing on CBS’s Face The Nation Sunday, Amash said the intelligence briefings have not given him comfort and, “there are some things that are being embellished in the public statements.”

“The evidence is not as strong as the public statements the obama administration is making,” Amash said. He said he urged the administration to be “more forward” with the public about what the situation actually is and noted there was “overwhelming disapproval” for potential war against Syria.

“I can’t come up with a reason why the United States should support this action,” Amash said.
