The police department of Tallahassee, Florida responded to a bomb threat at the National Guard Armory on Tuesday morning. There is little public information, though there is a slight chance the threat is a hoax by someone seeking to take advantage of the apprehension over attacks on military personnel after the Chattanooga shootings.

The Tallahassee Democrat reports that the man who made the threat was apprehended near the armory, while the building was evacuated and searched for explosives.

“Essentially, the quick reaction was to take him into custody and evacuate the armory,” said Florida National Guard deputy communications director Lt. Justin Phillips.

A bomb squad and K-9 units were brought to the scene, while security at nearby schools was tightened, in accordance with protocols for nearby law enforcement actions. No threat appears to have been made against the schools.

WCTV News reports a “police presence” in the area of a shopping center in Tallahassee this morning, but says “its’ not known if the two scenes are related.”
